I became an Alberta Marriage Commissioner in 2015 after retiring from eight years as the Director of the Undergraduate Medical Program with the University of Calgary and a 27-year tenure with Alberta Health Services. I’ve always had a natural inclination to be where love is and to promote the positive impact marriage has on our communities and society.
Born in Saskatchewan, I grew up immersed in my parents’ rich Ukrainian culture. When I moved to Calgary in the '70s, I fell in love with the city, firmly planted my roots and married my best friend, Doug. Our two daughters and three grandchildren are the light of our lives. We love every minute of our time together.
With each ceremony I perform, I am inspired by the commitment and the love story, and honored to be a marriage commissioner. Every union touches me in a unique way, reaffirming that this is my true calling.
